Dhivya Sivaramakrishnan - Dimagi

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete…” Some wise man words! Passionate about creating change, Dhivya took the road less travelled and joined ICICI Fellows Leadership Programme post her graduation focused on experiential learning through development projects with rural-based NGOs. She worked with Aajeevika Bureau to empower de-facto women headed migrant households in tribal areas of Southern Rajasthan by living with the locals in a small village. This was truly a defining moment in her life! Moving back to Chennai, she worked at Dvara Trust (Previously known as IFMR) on financial inclusion where she was responsible to improve wealth management strategies through digital services for low-income households (across various functions) who did not have access to formal financial institutions. Having picked up varied skills, Dhivya now joins Dimagi as a Field Manager to broaden her horizon on ICT4D. With keen interest in Design Thinking and behavior change approach, she is excited (hoping) to also explore the possibilities of using some of these in her work going forward.

In her free time, she loves encouraging small start-ups that focus on providing simple but powerful solutions to critical social issues such as promoting rural artisans, eco-friendly products and free education for the underprivileged.

Besides her passion for development, Dhivya is a trained singer in Indian classical (Carnatic) music. Love for semi-classical music gave her opportunities to perform in the All India Radio (AIR) and participate in a musical reality show years ago. She is also exploring how art forms/therapy can be a powerful tool to help influence society. Gallivanting across different parts of the country, Dhivya is always on the lookout for new experiences, culture and cuisines. One day, she hopes to have travelled to most parts of the world gathering priceless memories and reflecting on how travelling shaped up her personality. Dhivya also loves experimenting with cooking and wishes to have mastered the art of gardening at some point!
