Dimagi Renews Its Commitment to the Global Fund with a $5 Million Pledge - Dimagi

Last week at the Seventh Global Fund Replenishment, $14.25 billion was raised to support its mission to accelerate progress towards a world free of the burden of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria with better, equitable health for all. The replenishment also raised more from private donors than ever before, with a total of $1.23 billion.

As a B Corporation part of the private sector constituency to the Global Fund, Dimagi is an active member of the Global Fund’s Tech Collective. Alongside Google, Microsoft, Zenysis, Living Goods, and many others, we meet frequently with the Global Fund Secretariat to discuss our shared commitment to transform lives of those in need, by investing in digital programs that save lives.

With these shared values, for the first time in our organization’s history, Dimagi has become a pledging organization to the Global Fund. Our commitment of USD $5 million in in-kind services which aims to accelerate national adoption and scale of digital tools, was announced on stage at the Global Fund’s Power of Partnership event on Monday, September 19, 2022. It is the largest contribution Dimagi has ever made, and marks a historic milestone in our work to better frontline health workers jobs, in order to better and improve the delivery of frontline services and health outcomes.

This $5 million contribution is part of a recently created 50/50 match fund between Global Fund and Dimagi, which provides a 50% Dimagi contribution to any national government leveraging their national Global Fund grant, to adopt and scale CommCare – our flagship open source platform used to build mobile applications for low-resource settings.

Multiple countries have already expressed early interest in leveraging this match fund, including Madagascar, Mozambique, Benin, Togo, and Senegal. As countries receive their allocation letters and apply for the next round of funding, we are excited about the new opportunities countries have to work with Dimagi under this mechanism, as well as the new resources now available to support their digital health strategies.

Dimagi is committed to building a sustainable business model, while simultaneously supporting full adoption and ownership of digital solutions by national governments. To this end, we are proud to stand behind the Global Fund and contribute to their record breaking effort, to accelerate progress on AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
