UNCDF partnered with Baobab Senegal, Corprobat, and Dimagi in 2019 to pilot an existing digital solution dedicated to the agricultural sector aimed at reducing the information asymmetry between agro-cooperatives and financial service providers. That solution, CommeBanane, has reached more than 472 smallholders farmers active in the banana value chain in rural areas of Senegal, helping them to monitor their business records and access specific credit products tailored to their needs.
In the new phase of scaling up the solution, Baobab requested the services of Dimagi to support them in strengthening the capacities of its teams within the framework of an “Advisory Service” to serve 45 additional cooperatives and reach 2,250 smallholder farmers.
