Operations Team - Full-time

We are looking for a Financial Associate who will be based in Cape Town, South Africa and will report directly to the Global Director of Finance that is based in the United States.

The Financial Associate manages a broad spectrum of functions including day-to-day management of financial accounts, monthly financial closing of the books, bill processing and raising invoices, triggering payments and managing the bank account, reviewing expense reports, project financial reporting, and coordinating with external accountants for tax compliance and filings. You’re someone who has excellent attention to detail, outstanding excel skills, and enjoy supporting the great Business Operations and Dimagi team to make an impact globally. This is an experienced level role, though the  Financial Associate will be trained and onboarded on Dimagi’s financial processes and software.


What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate bill processing, vendor payments, and payroll support
  • Review employee expense reports
  • Create invoices in accounting software
  • Provide accurate and timely entity financial data
  • Work with external accountants on tax filings and compliance
  • Complete monthly checklist of financial reviews to close the books
  • Work with Global Director of Finance on Financial Models and Financial Reports
  • Coordinate with Headquarters Finance Teams
  • Manage Bookkeeper tasks to ensure data is entered on time and accurately
  • Answer questions on entity finances, as they pertain to Income Statement and Balance Sheet Accounts
  • Identify irregularities of financial data  and propose solutions to resolve financial problems and questions

Who You Must Be:

  • Holder of a B.A., B.S., or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years Experience in Finance, Accounting, or Budgeting
  • Computer savvy, highly organized, highly detail-oriented
  • Able to work independently and manage own priorities
  • Excellent MS Excel skills
  • Familiarity with financial accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Intacct, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Skype, Dropbox, and wiki's
  • Have the ability to pick up on new computer software programs such as Salesforce
  • Be intellectually curious individual with a passion for problem-solving and an ability to identify and lead on priority tasks
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and wear many hats at once
  • A motivated self-starter with strong initiative
  • Possesses the ability to self-organize, self-manage, and work with a team
  • Want to work for a social enterprise with long-term employment in Finance or Business Operations
  • Eligible to work in South Africa.


Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with Expense Reporting software (Expensify, Concur, Etc.)
  • Experience with Financial Audits
  • Experience working with remote management or remote team
  • Fluent in French
