Position Description

Dimagi is seeking a Senior Project Manager to drive one of our groundbreaking, large-scale mHealth projects, transforming community health systems across the country. These projects have the potential to impact health and nutrition service delivery for hundreds of millions of underserved people all over India.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex software projects through the software development life cycle (SDLC), coordinating multiple teams across multiple geographies. S/he will be relentlessly well-organized and both results-oriented and team-oriented. This person will manage, coordinate, and enable a high-performing and motivated team of Dimagi staff to deliver results, as well as plan proactively for long term success and sustainability.

The successful candidate will drive industry-changing improvements to healthcare delivery with central and state governments on national level projects. S/he will enjoy a diversity of work, day-to-day and week-to-week and enjoy taking on new unstructured challenges. This person will join our world-class team to learn and share best practices and expertise across the globe. We request a 2-year commitment in New Delhi for this position, but employment is at-will according to company policies.


  • Preparing and maintaining a detailed project plan outlining the activities, necessary steps, risks, and dependencies as the project progresses
  • Keeping on top of a range of moving work streams, managing who is working on what and that limited staff resources are properly prioritized
  • Coordinating and communicating constantly with a far-flung team across multiple geographies. Leading team meetings to review project progress, ensure quality implementation, coordinate tasks, and mitigate risks. Expect many meetings and emails
  • Planning, monitoring, and capacity building for ongoing implementation of the ICT system across multiple regions
  • Liaising with a technical team on application use, maintenance, feedback, and updates
  • Providing strategic direction, to maximize our expected impact
  • Collaborating with a network of partners and vendors for the ultimate success of the project. This includes expectation management, scope management, explaining technical concepts, and building strong rapport
  • Supporting and mentoring a dynamic team to enable their effectiveness and ensure their continued motivation and growth
  • Driving continuous improvement for efficiently delivering better, higher impact programs at greater scale, year over year
  • In keeping with Dimagi’s culture as a flat organization, gaining hands-on exposure to our work by visiting community field sites, training partner staff, and learning to configure mobile applications on the CommCare platform

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 7+ years of work experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing technology projects through the full software development life cycle (SDLC), using project management methodologies and tools like Asana or Jira
  • Ability to excel working in a cross cultural team environment, building alignment across various levels of the organisation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing and motivating a multicultural, international team
  • Scope management
  • Excellent ability to juggle many responsibilities with a high degree of efficiency
  • Ability to adapt to and wear many different hats
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Comfort with unstructured problems
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fluency in English

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience working with the Indian government
  • Experience in agile product ownership
  • Consulting experience delivering enterprise software implementations or other experience managing consortium partnerships
  • Experience in mHealth or other social development projects
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, technology, public health, or other relevant fields
